Accessibility Statement

What we have done to make this site and this showroom usable by everyone, what is not there yet, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.

In plain English

  • We aim at WCAG 2.2 Level AA and are partially conformant today.
  • Known gaps are listed honestly below rather than omitted.
  • The showroom is on the lower ground floor and step-free from the Main Boulevard entrance.
  • Tell us about a barrier and we will respond within two working days.

A summary, and a reading aid only. The numbered sections below are the operative terms, and where the two differ the sections are what apply.

#1. Our commitment

A furniture shop that cannot be used by someone with a visual impairment, a motor impairment, or a phone in bright sunlight is a shop that has designed badly. We treat accessibility as part of the design work rather than an audit at the end.

Target: WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Current status: partially conformant, meaning most of the standard is met and the exceptions are listed in section 4.

#2. What is in place

  • Semantic HTML throughout, with one h1 per page and a heading structure that matches the visual hierarchy — so a screen reader can navigate by heading.
  • A "Skip to content" link as the first focusable element on every page.
  • Visible focus outlines on every interactive element, never removed for aesthetics.
  • Text contrast meeting AA against the paper ground, checked against the brand palette rather than assumed from it.
  • The storefront stays light in both operating-system themes deliberately — furniture is sold on photographs and photographs read correctly on a pale ground — while the internal staff tools follow the system preference, because they are used for hours.
  • All meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Full keyboard operability, including the cart drawer, the filters and the cookie panel, with focus trapped inside a dialog and returned to where it came from on close.
  • Reduced-motion support — with the operating-system preference set, animation is disabled rather than merely shortened. This matters on the animated homepage in particular.
  • Text resizes to 200% without loss of content or function; no fixed pixel heights on text containers.
  • Form fields have real labels, not placeholder text pretending to be labels, and errors are announced rather than only coloured red.
  • Tables in the legal and specification pages carry proper header cells and scroll horizontally inside their own container rather than forcing the page sideways.

#3. The showroom

  • Step-free access from the E-100/14, Lower Ground, Main Boulevard, DHA entrance to the lower-ground showroom floor.
  • Circulation routes kept at 90cm minimum between displays — the same figure we apply when advising on a room.
  • Seating available throughout, and someone will bring you a chair if you would rather not walk the floor.
  • We will bring samples, swatches and small pieces out to a vehicle for anyone who cannot come in.
  • A home visit anywhere in Lahore, free, if coming to us is difficult. Call and ask; it is a normal request, not an imposition.

#4. Known limitations

Listed because a statement that claims full conformance and does not enumerate anything is not a statement anyone should believe.

LimitationEffectWhat we are doing
The animated homepage sequenceHeavy on a low-powered device even with motion reducedA static route exists at every other page; the sequence is confined to the homepage and is being lightened
Some stock catalogue photographyAlternative text is generic where we did not take the photographReplaced piece by piece as our own photography lands, with written alt text
PDF specification sheetsNot yet tagged for screen readersTagging on new sheets from the next revision; older ones on request
Third-party advertising, when enabledAd markup is outside our control and may not meet AAAd slots are labelled and kept out of the reading order; we will drop a placement that proves unusable
VideoNo captions on the few clips publishedCaptions and transcripts before any further video goes up

#5. Telling us about a barrier

Email sales@vevarte.com with "Accessibility" in the subject, WhatsApp +92 300 7512464, or call +92 300 7512464. Tell us the page and what happened — "the filter list cannot be reached with a keyboard" is a perfect report.

We acknowledge within two working days and give a fix or a date. Where a fix will take time, we will offer an alternative in the meantime — reading a page to you, taking an order by phone, or sending the content in a format that works for you.

Any content here is available in large print, plain text or read aloud on request, at no charge. That includes every document in this legal section.

#6. How this was assessed

Self-assessment: automated testing with axe and Lighthouse, manual keyboard traversal of every page, and screen-reader testing with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on iOS. Not yet independently audited; that is intended once the catalogue photography is complete.

This statement is reviewed whenever a significant change ships, and at least annually. It was last reviewed on the date at the top of this page.
