Guarantee & Warranty Policy

What we guarantee, for how long, what falls outside it, and how a claim is handled.

In plain English

  • 24 months on structure — frames, joints, drawer boxes, load-bearing components.
  • 12 months on upholstery, suspension and mechanisms; 6 months on applied finishes.
  • Wood moving with the seasons is not a fault. A joint failing is.
  • We repair first, replace if repair will not hold, refund if neither works.
  • The guarantee is in addition to your legal rights, not instead of them.

A summary, and a reading aid only. The numbered sections below are the operative terms, and where the two differ the sections are what apply.

#1. What is covered, and for how long

Cover runs from the delivery date and applies to the original purchaser, in normal domestic use, at the address the piece was delivered to.

ComponentPeriodWhat is covered
Frame and structure24 monthsJoint failure, frame breakage, splitting of load-bearing timber, failure of a leg or stretcher
Drawer boxes and runners24 monthsDovetail or joint failure, runner collapse, drawer dropping under normal load
Upholstery — suspension and cushion cores12 monthsWebbing or spring failure, foam collapsing beyond normal settling
Mechanisms — recliners, extension slides, soft-close hinges12 monthsMechanical failure in normal use
Applied finishes — lacquer, polish, paint6 monthsPeeling, flaking, blistering or premature crazing
Metalwork — brass, steel, plating6 monthsPlating failure and structural weld failure. Not natural patina, which brass is supposed to develop
Marble, onyx and stone tops6 monthsFracture not caused by impact, and failure of the bond to the base
Fabric and leather12 monthsSeam failure and manufacturing defect. Not wear, fading or staining

Cover is transferable to a private buyer if you sell the piece within the period — tell us and we will move the record across. We do not require the original receipt; the order is on our system.

#2. What is not covered

Stated plainly, so nobody discovers it during a claim:

  • Normal seasonal movement in solid timber — small dimensional change, hairline checking in end grain, a door sitting slightly differently in summer. Solid wood does this. It is why it lasts.
  • Natural variation in grain, veining, leather markings and hand-applied finish, which is described in the Terms of Sale.
  • Fair wear and tear — the sheen going off an arm rest, a cushion softening, a finish mellowing with light.
  • Damage from misuse — standing on a table, overloading a shelf beyond its stated capacity, dragging a piece across a floor rather than lifting it.
  • Water, heat and sunlight damage — a wet glass left on an unprotected top, a piece against a radiator, direct sun bleaching a finish. Position matters and we will advise on it before delivery if you ask.
  • Damage from an unsuitable environment — a room that floods, an unventilated basement, an outdoor terrace for a piece sold for indoor use.
  • Repairs, alterations or refinishing by anyone else. Call us first; an attempted repair usually costs more to undo than the original fault would have cost to fix.
  • Commercial use of a piece sold for domestic use. Contract and hospitality pieces are guaranteed separately and quoted as such.
  • Anything sold "as seen" — clearance and ex-display pieces where a specific mark or wear was disclosed and recorded on the invoice. The rest of the piece is still covered.

#3. Making a claim

  1. Message us with photographs — sales@vevarte.com or WhatsApp +92 300 7512464. A photograph of the fault and one of the whole piece is usually enough to diagnose it.
  2. We respond within two working days, and either identify the fault from the photographs or arrange to see it. Inspection in Lahore is free and we come to you.
  3. If a claim is covered we tell you the remedy and the timescale in writing.
  4. We repair wherever a repair will restore the piece properly — in your home if we can, in the workshop if we cannot, and we collect and return at our cost.
  5. We replace where repair will not hold or would leave a visible compromise. If the piece is discontinued we offer the nearest equivalent or a refund, at your choice.
  6. We refund where neither works. A refund after substantial use may be reduced to reflect the use you have had, and we will explain that arithmetic before doing it, not after.

Repairs and replacements carry the unexpired balance of the original guarantee, or ninety days from the repair, whichever is longer. A repair does not restart the clock, and it does not shorten it either.

#4. Care — the short version that actually matters

  • Keep solid timber out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources. Sun bleaches and heat opens joints, and both are avoidable by moving a piece a metre.
  • Lift, never drag. Most leg and joint failures we see began as a piece dragged across a floor.
  • Wipe spills immediately. Use coasters and mats on unsealed timber, marble and onyx.
  • Dust with a dry or barely damp soft cloth. No silicone polish, no ammonia, no all-purpose spray cleaner — they degrade lacquer and shellac.
  • Rotate and plump seat cushions weekly. Foam that is always compressed in one place will stay that way.
  • In a very dry winter room, a humidifier does more for solid furniture than any product sold for the purpose.

A care card goes out with every piece and repeats this. Following it is not a condition of the guarantee, but neglect that plainly caused the fault is excluded under section 2.

#5. Alongside your legal rights

This guarantee is voluntary and additional. It does not affect your rights under the Sale of Goods Act 1930 or the Punjab Consumer Protection Act 2005, which in some circumstances run longer than the periods above and which you may rely on instead of this guarantee at any time. Where the two differ, take whichever gives you more.
